What it covers

Cover for notified crops against risks like drought, flood, pests and diseases, and certain post-harvest and localised losses, as per the season's notification. The farmer pays a small share of the premium; the rest is subsidised.

How to enrol

  1. Enrol within the notified cut-off date for the season (Kharif/Rabi).
  2. Loanee farmers may be enrolled through their bank; non-loanee farmers can enrol via bank, CSC, or the official portal.
  3. Keep land records, Aadhaar and bank details ready.
  4. Note your policy/enrolment details for claims.

Reporting crop loss

Report damage within the notified time (often 72 hours) through the insurance company toll-free number, the app, bank, or agriculture office, so a survey can be done. Check the exact process on pmfby.gov.in.
