What is PM-KISAN?
PM-KISAN gives eligible farmer families income support of ₹6,000 per year, paid directly into their bank account in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The money is transferred by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), so a correctly linked and Aadhaar-seeded bank account is essential.
Who is eligible?
- Landholding farmer families with cultivable land, subject to the scheme's exclusion criteria.
- The family (husband, wife, and minor children) must own cultivable land as per land records.
- Excluded: income-tax payers, government employees and pensioners above a threshold, and certain professionals — see the official portal for the full exclusion list.
How to check your installment status
- Go to the official portal pmkisan.gov.in.
- Open the 'Know Your Status' / 'Beneficiary Status' section.
- Enter your registered number (Aadhaar or account, as asked) and the captcha/OTP.
- Your latest installment status and any pending action (like e-KYC) will be shown.
Payment not received? Common reasons
- Pending e-KYC — complete it on the portal or at a Common Service Centre (CSC).
- Aadhaar not linked/seeded to your bank account.
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar, bank, and land records.
- Land-record verification pending at the local level.
